Online Jump Rope Coaching Programs

Oct 12, 2022Jordan Lindstrom

If you're having trouble getting the hang of jumping rope, or if you'd just like to improve you skills, start with an online training program or coach. The jump rope coaches listed below have spent thousands of hours practicing and teaching jump rope, and have developed programs and strategies for helping you quickly develop your skipping skill.

When I started coaching competitive jump rope teams almost 20 years ago there was no such thing as an "easy way" to learn jump rope. I would travel to jump rope competitions with a camcorder and video tape the best jumpers. I'd then come home and continuously replay each trick on my VHS (remember those?) until I understood the exact mechanics... how tedious!

Times have definitely changed.

At Elite Jumps we have worked with each of these coaches (listed in no particular order), and in our experience all are great teachers and very talented with a jump rope. They all offer either free or very affordable programs that can be done online … without a VHS player.

Nick & Kaylee @ Learnin' the Ropes

About: Nick and Kaylee are two of the best jumpers in the world. A married couple from Tennessee, they come from the competitive jump rope world and have both won multiple world championships. He has competed as an American Ninja Warrior, and she is a performer with Cirque du Soleil. We've known Nick and Kaylee for years and you won't find two better ambassadors for the sport to learn from.

The Program: They offer a number of services including online video lessons for anyone who wants to learn new jump rope tricks. The also travel the country giving workshops, double under clinics, after school programs and performances.

Why try it: Check out Nick and Kaylee if you have the basics down but want to learn some new tricks or just freshen up your rope workouts. You send them a video of the trick you're trying to learn, and they will send you a video response showing you the progression for practicing and learning that trick. They are truly amazing jumpers … just see the video below.

Drew Murphy @ School of Skipping

About: Drew Murphy is a personal trainer and gym owner in Tiffin, Iowa, who also happens to be one of the more knowledgeable jump rope coaches we work with. Drew is another self taught jumper who approaches jump rope as a "building block" component to improving strength and fitness capacity. We seek Drew's advice regularly when we're developing new products and new jump rope workouts.

His Program: A one stop spot to learn how to jump rope. Online classes and instructional videos to help true beginners learn the basics of jumping rope and progress to advanced skills such as side swings, crosses, and double unders.

Why try it: Drew is a long time personal trainer who has used jump rope to help his clients succeed in their fitness goals. He has lots of experiences working with beginners, and knows what it takes for someone to go from "just starting" to "pro."

Honorable Mention

I don't have experience working with the following jump rope coaches (or their programs), and as such can't recommend them directly. But if you didn't find what you're looking for with one of the coaches or programs above I'd give these a look:
